HISTORY OF DOG LISTENING

The 'Dog Listening' Training methods have been devised and nurtured by acclaimed Amichien Bonding TM Dog Listener Jan Fennell.
Jan has undertaken considerable research into canine behaviour. Her methods were inspired by Monty Roberts, better known as the 'Horse Whisperer' who studied the behaviour of stallions, and mimicked their natural behaviour and movements to 'break' and train wild horses.
Jan was so inspired by what she witnessed with Monty Roberts, that she set about researching the behaviour of the dogs' ancestor: THE WOLF.
The dog as we know it today 'Canis familiaris' evolved from its ancient ancestor, 'Canis Lupus', some 12000 years ago. Since then, the 'wolf' has remained in the wild, in its familiar surroundings, and retained its 'pack family' and behaviour.
Conversely, due to domestication, the dog now has numerous breeds and lives in the surroundings of a society which is totally unfamiliar to its roots and away from its natural canine pack.
Jan successfully used the techniques with her own dogs and in time helped others who were experiencing various problems with their dogs.
Jan published her first book 'The Dog Listener' in 2000 and has since published further books and DVDs to help us understand our dogs.
